Genre Analysis in EAP—A Case Study of TESOL Research Article Abstract

To reinforce the pedagogical significance of genre analysis in EAP, current study analyzed thirty research article abstracts TESOL with approach, aiming to serve non-native pre-service/novice English teachers. The results showed that Abstract generally includes these moves: Introduction, Purpose, Method, Results, and Conclusion (optional). In addition, move signals are common tenses vary moves. Finally, two teaching designs were recommended on how findings can be utilized inform EAP pedagogy. task-based approach proposed this paper endows learners both knowledge skills. pedagogy based 'teaching-learning cycle' facilitates write qualified step by step. real practice, methods used synthetically yield maximum benefits.
